Biography
Since releasing his debut solo EP, ‘True North’ in 2009, Jaime has been on an extensive tour in New Zealand with (NZ favourites The Eastern) , also taking in a few solo shows in Australia on the way, toured Switzerland (twice) and appeared on BBC radio, New Zealand radio and Swiss national radio. More recently, he has written and recorded an album, titled Winterborn.
With songs that range from warmly intimate folk to full-throttled acoustic footstompers, Jaime’s solo shows see him wrap his music in layered vocal harmonies and percussion from a home-made stompbox or leave it bones-bare with only his voice and delicate guitar-playing to pull the listener into a world of his personal songs.
Ever restless and with a passion for touring and playing live, Jaime has performed in all manner of places, including bars, living rooms, bowling alleys, a saw-mill, a condemned block of flats (as part of a Zurich arts festival) and even the (still functioning) Victorian sewer beneath Brighton Pier.
Now Jaime has gathered together a new band to perform the ‘Winterborn' songs in a fuller form.
"..[a] well-made cake of acoustic loveliness...I was astounded...blown away!" - Brighton Noise (2013)
"In it's two year existence Ragged Trousered Folk has enjoyed many memorable performances by artistes from America, UK and elsewhere, but none more than from Jaime Regan, with two sets of intense self-composed songs, and of course, his astonishing vocals. The audience were quite simply stunned." - Tony Streeter, Ragged Trousered Folk, Hastings (2012)
“I was blown away!” - Melita Dennett, BBC Introducing (2010)
"A songwriter at the top of his game" - Vicki Anderson, New Zeland Press (2010)
Jaime is currently organising further gigs and tours and writing songs for the follow-up to Winterborn. A list of coming gigs can be found here.
